Awesome God!

I have thought a lot about Rich Mullins lately. I enjoy his music, but I have not really read up on his theology and life. I walked to church yesterday and listened to NPR's weekly podcast on Religion and they referenced Barack Obama's 2004 speech at the Democratic National Convention when he said,
"The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states."
Obama was referencing a popular refrain from an evangelical worship song. I grew up singing Awesome God in my youth group. I knew Rich Mullins sang it, but I didn't know much about the singer. I am getting ready for the Sunday worship service and I am preaching on John 14:1-14 I couldn't help but think of another Mullin's song called, "That Where I Am You May Also Be." It's a beautiful song that was the singer never finished recording before his death in 1997. I went online to listen to some of his work on YouTube and I came across some video of one of his last concerts. I was so moved by this section of the concert that I wanted to share it with everyone.

In Hope and Confidence,

Pastor Dave
